Kirsti and Louie had one of the absolute craziest wedding parties we have ever had the honor of capturing and we had a blast! The tears in his eyes when he saw his lovely bride told every guest there that he was crazy in love with her. Her smile said the same thing. Just take a look at these pictures and see for yourself!

A TN Wedding for Joe & Laura https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/9/a-tn-wedding-for-joe-laura When Joe told us that he had finally proposed to Laura, we were so happy for them and ready to get planning. The groom in one state, the bride in the other and the photographers in a completely different one and an inability to return text messages made this wedding so completely unexpected that I was actually a little worried. However, it was the only time I've ever seen Joe get emotional over something and I had the challenge of snapping away while my husband stood grinning like a Cheshire Cat as Joe's best man. They were the absolute sweetest couple, with only very close friends and family in attendance and Joe's grandfather performing the ceremony. A beautiful dock on a small lake surrounded by trees made for a perfect ceremony and nothing could have been more romantic than the groom requesting just a few moments with his new bride alone after the ceremony and before starting pictures and the reception. Here's just a glimpse into this beautifully simple and elegant wedding in Sevierville, TN. It made for a long weekend, but it was worth every mile driven.

Wedding Day Bliss https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/8/wedding-day-bliss On August 1, we had the honor of capturing one of our most anticipated weddings of the year. Andrea & Trevor are two of the most Godly, loving people I have ever met in my life. From their prayers prior to the ceremony to the worship music incorporated into the ceremony, it was a site to behold in today's society. There is so much to say about that beautiful day, but I think the photos speak volumes themselves.

A Special Homecoming https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/8/a-special-homecoming Late Thursday night I got a text from my friend Keri that said simply, "How much would you charge to come take a few pictures of James' homecoming? His flight comes in Saturday." This was from one of the absolute sweetest women I know and also someone I admire because I don't know how on Earth she does what she does. With 6 kids (including two that she and her husband adopted) and a husband that is in the service, she always has a smile on her face, runs two of the girls between multiple dance classes and never has a sour note for anyone. She was one of the dance moms in the dressing room with my daughter for her first performance and saved my sanity that year. I wouldn't dare charge for something so special and despite an already crazy schedule on Saturday, I told her not to worry about anything. I would be there to capture the smiles and tears.

On Saturday, I pulled into the airport parking lot at a little before 1:00. Or I should say I attempted to. The traffic was backed up to the road with emergency vehicles flying down the wrong side of the road and the traffic at a stand still. Some investigating turned up there was a bomb threat and a suspicious package inside the airport. Keri couldn't even get inside. After some frantic texts back and forth, some sweating that we weren't going to get in and a lot of sitting in the car waiting, we finally got the all clear. I was able to capture this loving reunion between not only a husband and wife and kids but also his mother, grandmother and many other friends and family. The story was even picked up by an LEX18 reporter that was hanging around after the bomb threat. So Lt. Col. James Martin certainly got the homecoming reception he deserved! We thank you for your service. The pictures speak for themselves here.

Super Toby is One! https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/8/super-toby-is-one A little over a year ago, one of my best friends learned that the little guy she was carrying had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. An extremely rare condition, this scared all of us to death due to the fact that we were also carrying our own little guy. Everything was unknown and we didn't know what would happen after he was born, what we could look forward to or anything else. And we certainly didn't know that we would reach 1 year, so it was a huge deal. It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Super Toby!

Gavels and school spirit https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/8/gavels-and-school-spirit A few weeks ago, I had the joy of capturing Leah's senior portraits. A senior at Madison Central High School in Richmond, she already knows that she wants to do something in the field of criminal justice and we just had to use that to capture some great shots around Richmond and EKU's campus. Between sweating like crazy and trying to find the buildings at EKU that were open in the middle of summer, we had a great day and got some amazing pictures! Here's just a few favorites. 20x30 canvas wallets wallets 2 wallets metallic

Snips and snails and puppy dog tails...and a Captain America shield https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/7/snips-and-snails-and-puppy-dog-tails-and-a-captain-america-shield We are always thrilled and honored to be asked to capture the priceless first few days of life of a little one. Jordan is no difference except the fact that I have known his mommy since we were kids in high school. I am so happy for her, her husband and this little guy's big brother. He gave us a little trouble falling back to sleep, but once we got him asleep, he was such a joy to work with. From those precious first portraits to an adorable Captain America, we had a blast! Congratulations Sean and Stacey! He is adorable and we can't wait to capture more precious moments.

A Downtown Mt. Sterling Senior Session https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/7/a-downtown-mt-sterling-senior-session What do you get when you mix a beautiful smile and a great attitude? Our lovely senior spokesmodel Sarah! We were battling a mix of rain and heat and humidity so nasty that anyone's hair would turn into a fuzzball. But that didn't stop her and she just laughed her way through the entire session. With some ugly black clouds taunting us, we cranked out this session and she was a trooper through the heat. This just goes to show that Mt. Sterling has some beautiful locations hidden in the nooks and crannies.

Part of Your World - A Little Mermaid Cosplay https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/7/part-of-your-world---a-little-mermaid-cosplay I am a huge Disney fanatic so when the opportunity to photograph Ashley as Ariel presented itself, I jumped at the chance. It had been raining the entire week and when we got to the Twin Knobbs beach at Cave Run, it was closed and we were forced to figure out a Plan B. Stoney Cove was PERFECT for the session and despite a slightly creepy guy that kept asking if she was the Little Mermaid and having to be very careful on the rocks, the session came out stunning. I went into the session knowing that the images would need manipulation to have the fantasy look to them, so we just had fun with the session.

One of the best things about cosplay sessions is that it doesn't HAVE to look real. The fantasy aspect of these style sessions is what makes you feel like you are in a real life fairy tale. Here's a quick example of how we can enhance what already is a great image to make is over the top!

As you can see, just a little editing and this looks like a picture straight out of a real life Little Mermaid that just got her legs for the first time! Here are some more images from this stunning session!

A Country Boy Senior Session https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/7/a-country-boy-senior-session It's always interesting and humbling to be asked to shoot someone you have known for years. I remember Andy when he was a little boy, running around our church doing who knows what. To think that he's a senior now is crazy to me. The constant rain lately had made for a muddy and wet farm but we got some amazing shots that show off who he is and what he loves: hunting and fishing. Take a look at these samples:

A Brother and Sister Senior Session - Double Trouble https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/7/a-brother-and-sister-senior-session---double-trouble Recently, we had the joy of capturing the senior portraits for two young adults that have meant a lot to us over the last couple of years. McKinzy and Tyson were in our youth group at church and became like our own children. Between Tyson being stubborn and hating pictures to looking at McKinzy and thinking I want to lock her in her room until she's 35, it seemed like these two teenagers because young adults right before our eyes. Battling rain, humidity and everything else, we managed to get some amazing shots and can't wait to see these two continue on in whatever they choose to pursue. Love you Ty and Kinzy!

Back to School with Miss Khloe https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/7/back-to-school-with-miss-khloe A little bit ago we ran a model call for a Mommy's Wedding dress session and stumbled on one of the sweetest kids I have ever met. Khloe was a perfect model, listened well and looked both adorable and stunning at the same time in her mother's dress. Here's one of my favorites from that session:

When I needed a model to show off my adorable new back to school set up for mini sessions, I knew her big eyes and gorgeous blonde hair would be perfect to showcase it. So with a few hours notice, we busted out these couple of sweet pictures to get Miss Khloe all ready to start second grade! Check out these favorites!

Books, Caves, Flowers and Tennis Balls? A Senior Session to Remember https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/6/books-caves-flowers-and-tennis-balls-a-senior-session-to-remember Last week, we trekked to Carter Caves State Park to shoot an absolutely amazing senior session for Haley. She came ready to go with her hair fixed, formal gown on and, of course, flip flops. We had planned a few things before her session so we already had a game plan. Her session is a prime example of why it is so important to do a consult (whether it be in person, over the phone or even via messages) before your session. Her mother described her as a flower child, a bookworm and a tennis player. We had an amazing session together regardless of whether we were hiking through the woods to get to the tennis courts, climbing in the entrance of a cave I'm fairly certain we weren't supposed to be in (we didn't go in the cave, just the entrance), or finding somewhere to sit in a creek that wasn't going to drench both of us. Every pose was perfect and I had one of the best and worst problems a photographer can have: trying to choose which poses to give her! As you can see from a quick sneak peek, each pose was more stunning than the last.

A Rainbow Baby for Loren & Travis https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/6/a-rainbow-baby-for-loren-travis Last week, I had the joy of capturing two very close friends' pregnancy announcement. Last year, just weeks after we had another session like this, I got the heartbreaking news that they had lost the pregnancy. So, this time, when Loren contacted me saying she was pregnant again, I knew we had to do some amazing announcement pictures. Sunset, The Wheel all lit up, The Island in Pigeon Forge and a fountain all lit up in rainbow colors made for the perfect setting to announce their rainbow baby! Having captured the love between these two and their son since their engagement session, I can't wait to continue to freeze these moments in time for them. Congratulations to all three of them!

"Made in Italy" - One of a kind albums for one of a kind clients https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/6/-made-in-italy---one-of-a-kind-albums-for-one-of-a-kind-clients What do you think of when you think of Italy? Fashion shows? Italian leather? Rome? The Vatican? Almost anything that is stamped "Made In Italy" has a distinct quality to it. Nothing compares to handcrafted Italian leather and one of a kind items that can only be found in this magical place an ocean away from our sweet little state. This is why, ten years ago when I was searching for an album company, I stumbled upon a company called GraphiStudio and fell in love with their one of a kind albums. And over the years they have only gotten better, offering more customization options and more album types to fit every need. The albums are stunning, the print quality to die for and enough custom options that you could seemingly work for years, producing an album a week, and never make the exact same album twice. Leathers, metals, acrylic, wovens and everything in between for covers and just as many options for the backs, combined with custom boxes, sleeves, parent copies and more, means your album is truly a one of a kind reflection of your style, your wedding day and your memories. We can personalize with your names and wedding dates, all the way down to a custom box to put your USB drive in. Just take a look at some of the stunning books we have produced lately. One is covered in detail, the other ones just examples.

A Family Affair - Duty Family Session https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/6/a-family-affair---duty-family-session Wednesday, I had the pleasure of capturing this beautiful family. Ranging from high school all the way down to only about a month old, these five kids have personalities that shine through in their pictures. Check out some of these amazing images from a rustic barn setting in Means, KY. Did I mention this beautiful location is at my great grandmother's house?! Love being able to spend time with her and have my own kids there too.

A Look Back https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/6/a-look-back With wedding and engagement season upon us, I had to do a quick post about some of my favorite weddings I've shot over the past years. Every wedding is different. Some have hundreds of people, huge churches, elaborate catering and wedding parties rivaling a football team. Then there's the ones where you might have 30 people but they are so eloquently put together that everything flows smooth and steady. Then there are still others where, despite effort, nothing goes as planned and you get to look back and laugh at the craziness. I can tell you a memory from every wedding I've ever shot. There are some couples that I still am in contact with on a regular basis and some that have brought their children to me long after the wedding took place. So, as a look back, here's a few shots from some of my favorite weddings ever.

Kirsti & Louie Engagement Session https://ptpky.com/blog/2015/6/kirsti-louie-engagement-session Yesterday, I had the honor of capturing one of the cutest love stories I've ever seen. Kirsti and Louie have been together since high school and have a love story worth capturing in photos. From a truly unique engagement ring to a pair of Louisville Cardinal t-shirts (yes, this Wildcat girl willingly took pictures with that rotten red bird), the two of them had a style all their own. We had a wonderful time running around downtown Louisville, found our way to the top of a parking garage, took forever figuring out a beautiful shot on the bridge and, according to our phones, walked over 5 miles. Here's a quick sneak peek! Stay tuned for a post with more of this beautiful session!
